What it means for your business

With the amendment of SOLAS V/19 by MSC.282(86) you're faced with yet another new piece of new legislation to comply with - it never stops! Now your ships must install a bridge navigational watch alarm systems (BNWAS). As if your work load wasn't big enough already, you're now faced with all the challenges of installing a new system to all your ships, whilst still managing your daily operations.

Finding out exactly what the legislation requires for your ships is one thing, finding the budget and choosing the best value for money system from all the confusing manufacturers' claims is a much more complex task. You'll be concerned about how difficult the system will be to install. If you have ships of different classification societies, you'll be faced with the challenge of different interpretations of the BNWAS regulations and many systems with only limited Type Approvals. And then there's the worry of what else you'll need to buy to ensure a simple and quick installation - what will your true installed cost be? It's a headache and one that's not going away.
